Every two years Members of the International Coalition of Art Deco Societies (ICADS) convene for the ICADS Biennial Art Deco International Conference in a city selected for its noteworthy Art Deco architecture. Each International Conference brings together top scholars, global leaders and Deco enthusiasts for a week of lectures, tours, meetings with local governmental and cultural officials, and social activities in historic Deco settings.

CONTINUING A RICH HISTORY OF PRESERVATION, SCHOLARSHIP & FELLOWSHIP
For over three decades representatives from Art Deco Societies around the world have convened every two years for the World Congress on Art Deco through an arrangement started with the Miami Design Preservation League. Moving forward starting in 2027 with the Chicago Art Deco Society, lovers of Art Deco will continue to gather biennially through arrangements with ICADS, in an event that will now be known as the Art Deco International Conference™.
The Conference will play a vital role in generating global attention to Art Deco architecture and design, and where possible, become the clarion call for identifying and protecting endangered Art Deco heritage. The Conference will be an excellent opportunity for preservationists, scholars, and Art Deco enthusiasts to gather together to learn not only about the heritage of the host city, but also from one another. We look forward to sharing more news as plans develop for the next Art Deco International Conference™!

FUTURE ART DECO INTERNATOINAL CONFERENCES
The 2027 International Conference will take place in Chicago with Pre- and Post-Conferences in Milwaukee and Indianapolis. Check back with us for more information soon.
ICADS will be soliciting applications for the 2029 Art Deco International Conference from Member Societies in early 2026. Check back for more details in late 2026.

The 2025 World Congress on Art Deco® will celebrate the centennial of the 1925 Exposition Internationale Des Arts Decoratifs et Industrials Moderne, the event that led to the spread of the Art Deco style around the world. Click here to see a recent presentation exploring the concept of the 17th World Congress on Art Deco® which will include programming in Paris, Reims, Saint Quentin, and Brussels. The 2027 World Congress is proposed to be hosted in Chicago, USA by the Chicago Art Deco Society.
